Our Church
Valley View Baptist is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, and the Marietta Baptist Association. Our congregation is composed of approximately 200 active members, with all ages represented. We are dedicated to building strong families through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

What We Believe:

That the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, Word of God. It is the absolute and final authority in all matters.

That people living apart from Jesus Christ are eternally lost and incapable of pleasing God.

That all people can know a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. When a person surrenders to Jesus and accepts Him as Savior, they are sealed with His Holy Spirit and guaranteed eternal life.

That every Christian is a priest unto God and is responsible to be led by His Holy Spirit according to the Word of God. Every Christian is directly responsible to God.

That every Christian, upon profession of their faith in Jesus Christ, should be baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit
.

Church History

Valley View Baptist started as The Valley Church back on March 7, 1859 by S.G. Dawson (who became the first pastor) from McConnelsville, Ohio with meetings held in the Thorniley School House.
A new church building was dedicated on Sept 29, 1861 on Newport Pike (SR-7).

The church outgrew the building in 1963 (also it was a dangerous location a few feet away from a busy highway that in those days had a 70MPH speed limit!) and it was voted to buy land and construct a new church on a hill in Reno on the end of Longacre St. The new church was dedicated on Oct 9, 1966
The old church was sold in 1967 and later torn down.
The new church building was renamed Valley View Baptist Church in Jan 1975.
A new addition was dedicated Jan 15, 1995.
There have been 35 pastors from S.G. Dawson to Rev. Paul B. Morton
